PROJECT NAME

Assessing Biocontrol Resistance in St.John’s Wort

CLIENT

Grassland and Rangeland Enhancement Program

DURATION

2 years

RESOURCES

Insect biocontrol has been used in British Columbia since the early 1950s. Our recent work indicates that biocontrol resistance has developed at one of the oldest release sites in the Province. Resistance is a common predatory response mechanism in plants and indicates the need for more biocontrol options and greater use of integrated weed management (biological, chemical, cultural and mechanical weed control).
